SDX Joins the Global One Club For Creativity
San Diego’s longest operating business association is going international by becoming a chapter of The One Club for Creativity, the world's foremost non-profit organization whose mission is to support and celebrate the success of the global creative community.Currently called SDX, the San Diego association was founded in 1911 as the San Diego Advertising and Sales Club by several San Diego businessmen, for the purpose of promoting the Panama-California exposition of 1915. More than 100 years since then the association has played a key role in the local marketing industry, and in the community at large. Once called “the greatest luncheon in town” by local business leaders, credits to “The Ad Club” include creating the San Diego BBB in the early 1920’s; developing a non-profit called SAFE that provides funds for San Diego marketing professionals in times of distress; and producing one of the largest and longest-running marketing conferences on the West coast.SDX board president Greg Carson said “Just as our organization promoted San Diego to the world for the 1915 exposition, the San Diego chapter of The One Club will bring a new level of global exposure to our highly talented local advertising and marketing professionals.” Carson added that The One Club also produces one of the most respected advertising awards programs on the planet, The One Show.“No other organization gives back to the advertising and design industries with this level of comprehensive educational and development programming on a global basis,” said Kevin Swanepoel, CEO, The One Club for Creativity. “San Diego is home to a vibrant creative community, and we're thrilled to work with the team there as they become an active and productive chapter.” A strength of SDX has always been diverse and meaningful programming and events that recognize San Diego talent, serving agency, media, brand, and production verticals within the industry. Leveraging the educational and development programming of The One Club will further enhance programming and bring even more value to the new and existing members. The San Diego chapter of The One Club for Creativity is now open for membership at oneclub.org, with the official chapter launch event to be held on September 19th.
