Celebrating Excellence: the 2023 One Awards
San Diego's creative community gathered at The Guild Hotel in downtown San Diego on Thursday, January 18, 2024, for The One Awards, an annual celebration recognizing outstanding creative talent in the region. The event showcased the remarkable achievements of artists, designers, and agencies in San Diego and Baja, celebrating their contributions to the vibrant creative landscape.
A highlight of this year's event was the introduction of the "Ones To Watch" designation, an honor bestowed upon the top-scoring students. This new category aims to recognize and encourage emerging talent, providing a platform for promising individuals to showcase their creativity. The inaugural recipients of the "Ones To Watch" designation were Javi Iniguez of San Diego City College for his packaging design for Mi Leon Tequila, and Khristine Anne Samson, also from SD City College, for the identity system created for West Wind Bread & Breakfast. Both students demonstrated exceptional skill and promise in their respective fields.
The night's biggest winner was The Shipyard, a creative agency that dominated the awards ceremony, taking home an impressive total of 7 awards. The pinnacle of their success was achieving the prestigious "Best in Show" honor for “Sunny Side Mural” in the category of non-traditional & guerrilla marketing.
The One Awards brought together a diverse and influential audience, including industry professionals, students, and supporters of the arts. Attendees enjoyed an evening of celebration, networking, and recognition of the outstanding achievements that continue to shape the creative landscape in San Diego and Baja.
